8 420-Friendly New Years Resolutions for 2020
Goodbye 2010s, and hello 2020!
This year, we’re considering new years resolutions, and how to make them a little bit more 420-friendly.
We’ve seen the cannabis industry go through so many changes in the last ten years, and in the spirit of change, here are some of our new years resolutions with a canna-twist.
1. Don’t just exercise more. Exercise smarter.
If you didn’t exercise as much as you probably should’ve in 2019, it’s possible that the problem was that you’re weren’t properly motivated.
And as the old “stoner stereotype” used to say, if you use cannabis, people assume you’re lazy. But you and I both know that’s just not true.
People from all walks of life use cannabis for a multitude of reasons. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, athletes, and more of some of the most motivated groups of people on earth use cannabis.
So how can we use that to our advantage and set 420-friendly new years resolutions to ACTUALLY work out more, and just not go to the gym a few times in January?
Instead of just telling yourself that you’re going to exercise more, make a resolution to exercise smarter.
Before your next workout, try finding an uplifting sativa strain so that you’re motivated, ready to move, and feeling good before you exercise.
For many, this is the right kind of motivation that can help you get your blood pumping in a way that’s more motivating than any personal trainer or fitness fad out there.
2. Use “the munchies” to your advantage by eating better.
When you think of the munchies, what usually comes to mind?
Junk food, desserts, greasy fast food, and other not so healthy options?
Well, what happens when we flip the script? Why can’t we use cannabis’s appetite enhancing properties to our advantage?
If you’re one of the many people that get a little bit more hungry after they use cannabis, you know that food tastes a lot better when you’re high.
So yes, that pizza would probably taste great, but you know what else might taste better? The things you don’t want to eat when you’re sober.
Next time you know you’re about to smoke before lunch, build yourself a super dynamic salad with lots of fruits and veggies and make it as interesting as possible so that after you hit your vape pen, you’ll have a delicious, healthy lunch waiting for you.
And since you’re high, that salad will taste even better!
So this new year, we encourage you to eat right and use the munchies to your advantage by letting yourself get excited about health food instead of just junk food.
Not that we have anything against French fries. Everything in moderation, folks.
3. Tackling the classic “lose weight” new years resolutions in a healthy (and 420-friendly) way.
Unless you’re so overweight that it’s affecting your health, none of us need to lose weight. There. I said it.
I know that it’s an unpopular opinion but think about it. Everywhere you look, there are images of these “perfect” unattainable bodies that exist solely to make us feel bad about ourselves, and ultimately, to buy their products.
If you’re on a path to losing weight, power to you. We support you in whatever you choose to do with your own body. But we also want to help you see that there’s more to life than having that “perfect” body.
For many of us, body image issues have come and go in our lives as our bodies change and age. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to change our idea of what a perfect body looks like altogether?
Using cannabis is not going to make you look in the mirror and see an entirely different person. But what it might do is help your brain stretch and see a new perspective on your body, your health, and the entire beauty industry.
One of the reasons cannabis is so popular is because it has the ability to change even the most rigid minds. It grants the gift of perspective and can reveal entirely new visions of the world you thought you knew.
Even if you’re super happy about your body, trying cannabis to dig deeper into the ways our society can manipulate the minds of impressionable people always makes for great conversation with the right people.
4. Save more money on cannabis.
So you love cannabis. What’s not to love?
But maybe your bank statement isn’t too happy about how much you love cannabis, and one of your new years resolutions is to become better friends with your bank account in 2020.
We think that’s super cool, and even though we’re a cannabis dispensary, we fully support any new years resolutions that make you feel better about your choices in life.
In fact, we support it so much that we are constantly offering special exclusive discounts and promotions to loyal customers and those who sign up for our email newsletter.
For most holidays, and even surprise dates throughout the year, every dispensary that’s powered by Kolas offers unique discounts on all things cannabis so that you don’t have to break your bank in 2020.
We have even been known to offer complimentary concert tickets to people who enter to receive them via random lottery after signing up for our email newsletters.
We understand that money doesn’t grow on trees and that our customers don’t want to be taken advantage of. Ask our budtenders about our latest deals and promotions so that you feel good about your purchases in 2020!
5. Quit smoking cigarettes.
You don’t need us to tell you how unhealthy cigarettes are.
You’ve heard it all before, and if it were easy to quit, you would’ve quit by now.
We get it.
That being said, one of the most popular new years resolutions is to quit smoking cigarettes, And while quitting is a personal choice that takes a lot of hard work to accomplish, we want to help as much as we can.
There is growing evidence that points to cannabis in general, but CBD in particular, being potentially able to help in the process of quitting cigarettes.
A recent review on the potential role of CBD in beating addiction concludes that, “CBD has been associated with many neural circuits involved in the acquisition of addiction and subsequent drug-seeking behaviors, making it an interesting pharmacological candidate to treat substance-use disorders”.
To us, it means a few things.
The first being that science is still trying to pin down exactly how much and how CBD and cannabis can help with addiction.
The next being that CBD has so many useful properties that are still yet to be discovered.
And the last is that cannabis holds so much potential power for the future of our health.
So if quitting smoking cigarettes is one of your new years resolutions for 2020, we recommend giving CBD a try. Let us know in the comments section below whether it ends up helping you or not! We’d love to hear more about the journey and what’s working and not working for you.
6. Read more.
Whether you want to get more educated, be more productive in your spare time, or just read for fun, reading more is never a bad idea.
Escaping into a good book is better than any binge-worthy TV show. But if reading more is one of your new years resolutions, you probably haven’t found the right reading material for you yet.
And to that, we have two 420-friendly pieces of advice for you.
And the first one you may already expect: Use cannabis before you read.
When you use cannabis before you read, there’s a chance you may feel that your mind is more open. You might feel that you’re a little bit more imaginative, you’re more receptive to new ideas. You may not be as stressed about your phone or whatever else it is you have going on.
Reading material that you may not have considered while sober might just jump out of the page and into your psyche in a whole new way after smoking, vaping, or eating your cannabis products.
Our second piece of advice is to not limit yourself to just books.
Books are amazing! But they’re not everyone’s cup of tea.
Sometimes you want to read something fun and informative, but you don’t want it to take you a month to finish it.
And our solution to you is to bookmark this blog page! We are constantly putting out new content so that you can stay educated and entertained always.
If one of your new years resolutions is to read more, we’ve got you covered. Leave us a comment below and tell us about which of our blogs is your favorite read, so that we can put out more similar content just for you!
7. Find a new job.
One of the most common new years resolutions is to start fresh with your current job situation.
If leaving your current job and entering into a career path that’s a little bit more 420-friendly sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.
Many people are flocking to the cannabis industry for their career because it’s such a new and exciting industry with so many possibilities.
While working in the cannabis industry, there’s never a dull moment, and at the very least, you always have something interesting to talk about at parties.
If you’re looking to get into the industry somewhere in Sacramento, we might be able to help you out!
We are always hiring budtenders at our dispensary locations! If you’re someone who wants to get in on the ground floor of the cannabis industry, has some retail experience, and has some knowledge about cannabis, you might be a perfect fit!

Every customer is different, so we pride ourselves on staffing and training budtenders who show excellent care in customer service, cannabis knowledge, and setting the standard for the industry.
Start the roaring 20’s off on the right foot by heading down a career path that makes you proud.
8. Start a new hobby.
Want to get into knitting? Woodworking? Playing the saxophone? Photography? Hiking?
Whatever you choose, hobbies are supposed to be fun! So don’t worry about putting too much pressure on it.
If one of your new years resolutions is to get into something new, we totally support that!
But we think you should take it a step further by adding cannabis into your new hobby.
By using cannabis, you can help take the pressure off of the learning curve of whatever you’re getting into. The cannabis might also help you to not take it too seriously right away and just enjoy it for what it is.
Hobbies are a great way to evolve your own identity, to blow off steam after a long day, and to just have a little fun every now and again.
And in that way, hobbies have a lot in common with cannabis.
The reasons our customers come into our dispensary are ranging, as each person is so different from the next. But we think that the one thing that unites us all is our urge to enhance our lives and to elevate our senses.
