Understanding Cannabinoids for Sleep and Pain Relief
CBD
Non-psychoactive. Often used for pain relief as an anti-inflammatory. Different doses may produce different results. Lower doses may increase alertness while higher doses may cause sleepiness.
Recommended if:
- You're new to Cannabis
- Have a low tolerance
- Prefer not to get high

CBD + THC
Less intense psychoactive effect (depending on dosage). Work together to reduce both pain and inflammation.
Recommended if:
- You're looking for something in the middle
THC
The psychoactive cannabinoid responsible for the "high" feeling. May cause relaxation and sleepiness. Decreases sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep) may also reduce pain.
Recommended if:
- You want an intense high
- Lower THC varieties don't work for you.
CBD + THC
A psychoactive but milder version of THC. May be used effectively as a sleep aid or sedative.
THCa
Non-psychoactive. May be used to relieve inflammation, pain, and can be used to stimulate, providing energy and focus.
CBG
Non-psychoactive. May be used to fight inflammation, pain, and nausea. Has anti nausea and sleep/sedative effects
Cannabinoids For Your Primary Goal

Don't forget about Terpenes!
Terpenes are naturally-occurring chemical compounds in cannabis. They work in synergy with cannabinoids to create strain effects. This is called the Entourage Effect.
Pay attention to the terpene profile in cannabis products. Terpenes such as Myrcene, Caryophyllene and a-Pinene have been found to have anti-inflammatory properties!
